SUMMARY

The short 17 years of Pail's life haven't been easy on her.
Raised by an overly controlling mother and born with a horrible stutter, Pail has grown into a moody pushover. However, when she runs away from home, she is suddenly whisked away into an unknown world with unknown people...

"Hey, girl! You're going to be a part of our band, starting today!"

GAMEPLAY

Default RPGM2000 gameplay. Mostly talking, exploration, and whacking slimes.
The game will take about an hour or two to complete, give or take. Not particularly difficult.

This game was made for the /vrpg/ (You)RPGM GameJam #4. The game is playable online on this very page, but I recommend downloading it and playing it on your desktop instead. I have not tested the online version, so there may be bugs.

For those who have completed the game using the browser version, download the BONUS FOLDER on this page for some (as you may expect) bonus content! The password to this is the identity of the final boss (one word, three letters, all caps). Those who have downloaded the game itself will not need to download the bonus folder, as it is already included within the game zip.

Additionally, if you are having trouble solving some of the puzzles/can't be arsed to solve them, there is a handy collection of HINT AND ANSWER. Again, if you've downloaded the game, this should already be included with the game itself. Browser players will need to download and unzip this folder.

if this is made with RPGM 2000, how can it have a browser version? :o

The game jam nature of this is pretty apparent because of its small scale, but the fun characters and nice aesthetics went a long way toward making this worth the time spent playing.
Great great original graphics, and the sprites edited from the RTP fit in well while still feeling new.

On some level, I almost wish this story had more time to develop, with more locations and plot points. Things like them being in a band didn't have much to do with things aside from why she was summoned in the first place.
But on the other hand, I'd be just as interested to see what other stories you could tell.

Easily my favorite concept is learning skills through items earned through side quests. Obviously not a huge part of the game because of how small it is, but rewarding players for exploring rather than grinding is how RPGs should be. Whatever you make in the future, I hope that philosophy can find its way into other aspects of the game.

Thank you for the kind words and feedback!
Yeah, I definitely wish that I could have added more scenes of the party (and other characters) interacting with each other--I slacked off a little in the first week of development and ended up doing most of the actual game development (as in, working gameplay and maps out in RPGM and not just making outlines of the story and sketches of the graphical assets) in the latter half, so the game isn't as fleshed out as I would've liked. I said this when I finished my last game as well, but next time I definitely want to make a game with a lot more "meat" on it.
