I played this game about a month ago and Im still thinking about it. Its fantastic. The little bait-and-switch near the beginning really set the tone of the game. Its clever, I stared at the screen for a good minute digesting what just happened. 10 outta 10

I really appreciate that the protagonist is not a standard anti-hero. Like any anti-hero, the protag is not noble or virtuous and cares only about their own selfish goal. And yet, despite everything, your protag is still kind. The protag still sympathizes with npcs (in so far as it does not impede the main goal) and there is no needless callousness that is typical of this character type. Its refreshing.

The thing I love the most is the deconstruction of the role of deities in fantasy rpgs. This game frames the goddess as exploitative, and that her desire for a child sacrifice should be unnecessary. But like, most standard fantasy j/rpgs share a lot of these elements if you think about it. Playing this game has validated a lot of my feelings about how most j/rpgs ignore the morality and ethics of 'good' gods who make teenagers do all their work for them. I love it.

Thank you for playing Lament and writing such a thoughtful post about it!
Nothing brings me more joy than knowing that somebody has been impacted by one of my games in such a way.

I'm glad that people like the protagonist so much, definitely a fun character to write.
They look a lot like the typical anti-hero, but I wanted to emphasize that they're absolutely still human.
A character like this should have a little moe to them instead of just being cool all the time.

Funny thing, the plot of Lament was based off of a small passage in a novel.
It's been a few years since I've read it, but it's been haunting me for a long time.
If this game has given you even a third of the feelings that I got from that small passage, then I'm glad.

Good game and interesting story. The fighting mechanics are simple and good. And I just realized at the end of the boss, if I can upgrade weapons.

I made the gameplay on Youtube, you can watch it if you want.

Thank you for playing Lament, and congratulations on clearing it!

I never expected anyone to make a playthrough of this, so thank you for that as well!
